Real name – Bhumika was born as Rachna Chawla on 21 August 1978 in New Delhi.
South Indian cinema roots – Before Bollywood fame, she became a leading star in Telugu films like Kushi (2001), Okkadu (2003), and Simhadri (2003).
Bollywood debut with Salman Khan – Her first Hindi film was Tere Naam (2003), where she played Nirjara. Director Satish Kaushik personally selected her after seeing her work in South films.
Minimal makeup in Tere Naam – To keep her character Nirjara authentic and innocent, she used very little makeup throughout the film.
Award-winning actress – She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Telugu) for Kushi (2001) and received critical acclaim for Tere Naam.
Television beginnings – Before films, she appeared in the Zee TV serial Hip Hip Hurray in the late 1990s.
