Murli Sharma was born on 9 August 1972 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, but he was raised in Mumbai.
He trained at the Roshan Taneja School of Acting, one of India’s most respected acting institutes.
His television breakthrough came with Doordarshan’s Paltan, where he played Col. R.S. Sajwan.
Before becoming a familiar face in films, he appeared in several soap operas, including Guns and Roses, Siddanth, Laagi Tujhse Lagan, and Viraasat.
He has acted in over 130 films across six languages: Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
His Hindi film debut was in Dil Vil Pyar Vyar (2002), while his Telugu debut was in Athidhi (2007), where he played a memorable antagonist.
He is often cast in authoritative roles, such as police officers, military men, or powerful antagonists, which became his signature style.
Despite being widely recognized in Telugu cinema, he continues to balance roles in Bollywood and other regional industries.
Murli Sharma married actress Ashwini Kalsekar in 2009, and they are considered one of the respected couples in Indian cinema.
