Ranjith Balakrishnan, also known as Ranjith, is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, actor, and lyricist who works in Malayalam cinema.
He was born on September 5, 1964 in Balussery, Kozhikode, Kerala, India and graduated from the School of Drama and Fine Arts, Thrissur in 1985.
Ranjith is known for his work on award-winning independent films and mainstream blockbusters.
His films Thirakkatha and Indian Rupee won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam in 2008 and 2011 respectively.
