Saumya Tandon was born on 3 November 1984 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, but she grew up in Ujjain, where she completed her schooling at St. Mary’s Convent School.

Her father, B.G. Tandon, was a professor and a well-known writer in Ujjain, which influenced her early interest in literature.

Before entering television, she published a book of poetry titled Meri Bhavnayein at the age of 16, showcasing her literary talent.

She began her acting career with the TV serial Aisa Des Hai Mera (2006) and made her Bollywood debut in Jab We Met (2007), playing Kareena Kapoor’s sister.

Apart from acting, she became a popular television host, anchoring shows like Dance India Dance, Bournvita Quiz Contest, and Entertainment Ki Raat.

She won the Best Personality Award at the New Talent Awards in 2009 and the Best Anchor Award at the Gold Awards, highlighting her versatility beyond acting.

Saumya married Saurabh Devendra Singh in 2016, and the couple has one child.

She is admired for her portrayal of Anita Bhabhi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! (2015–2020), which made her a household name across India.

In 2025, she appeared in Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar, marking a significant return to mainstream acting.

Despite her success in television, she has often expressed a desire to explore more diverse roles in films and theatre, showing her ambition to grow beyond her established image.
