Akshay Kumar has officially confirmed that Hera Pheri 3 is shelved and will not be happening, at least for now. The actor made the revelation during a recent interaction, responding to a question about the much-anticipated sequel. “Hera Pheri 3 abhi filhaal toh nahi ban rahi (The film is not happening as of now),” he said, leaving fans disappointed. The statement has put an end to months of speculation surrounding the project, which was expected to reunite Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal.
Akshay admitted that he himself was shocked by the development. “Mujhe khud jhatka laga tha. Koi baat nahi, Welcome bana li,” he added, hinting at his upcoming film Welcome to the Jungle, where he will be seen alongside his Hera Pheri co-stars. He explained that while the trio of actors remain on good terms and are working together, the issues preventing Hera Pheri 3 are more complicated, involving agreements and production hurdles that he could not disclose publicly.
The actor emphasized that the delay is not due to differences among the cast but rather contractual and logistical challenges. “There are some things that I cannot speak on camera. Bohot saari cheezein, agreements hain, which takes the project backwards,” Akshay explained. His comments suggest that while the film is not completely ruled out forever, it will not be on track for at least the next year.
Fans of the iconic comedy franchise have expressed disappointment, as Hera Pheri and Phir Hera Pheri remain cult classics in Indian cinema. However, Akshay’s assurance that he, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal will share screen space in Welcome to the Jungle offers some consolation. For now, Hera Pheri 3 remains shelved, leaving audiences to wait and hope that the beloved trio might return in the future under better circumstances.
