Bollywood fans have a reason to celebrate as Heyy Babyy 2 has officially been announced nearly two decades after the release of the popular 2007 comedy. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala confirmed the sequel on Thursday, September 3, 2026, bringing the beloved franchise back into the spotlight.
The announcement came during a meeting between Nadiadwala and New South Wales Premier Chris Minns at Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment's Mumbai office. The sequel is part of a new three-film collaboration that will see upcoming Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment productions filmed in Australia.
Heyy Babyy 2 to Be Shot in Australia
Australia holds special significance for the franchise because the original Heyy Babyy was also shot there. The upcoming sequel will return to the country as part of the new production arrangement.
Nadiadwala has expressed his appreciation for Australia's filmmaking environment, describing the country's locations, professional crews and support for filmmakers as important factors behind the decision to return.
The three-film collaboration is being developed through a partnership involving Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Sydney-based TEMPLE.
Will Akshay Kumar Return?
One of the biggest questions following the announcement is whether Akshay Kumar will reprise his role.
The original movie featured Akshay Kumar alongside Vidya Balan, Riteish Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan. However, the makers have not yet officially confirmed the cast of Heyy Babyy 2. There is also no confirmation that original director Sajid Khan will return for the sequel.
Therefore, while the sequel is being widely associated with Akshay Kumar because of the popularity of the original, his participation should not yet be treated as confirmed.
