Samay Raina was born into a conservative Kashmiri Pandit family in Jammu. He completed his schooling at Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, before enrolling in PVG’s College of Engineering in Pune to study Printing Technology. However, he often described his engineering degree as unfulfilling, and it was during his college years that he discovered his passion for comedy through open mic events.

Raina began performing at open mics in 2017 and quickly gained recognition by opening for established comedians like Anirban Dasgupta and Abhishek Upmanyu.
