A years-old comment by Rashmika Mandanna about Yash has resurfaced online, bringing back a controversy that dates to the early phase of her career. In an old interview, Rashmika was asked to name the person she considered the “Mr Showoff” of the Kannada film industry. After initially hesitating, she eventually mentioned Yash’s name. The remark reportedly upset several of Yash’s fans and sparked considerable criticism at the time.
Years later, Yash has addressed the controversial comment during his appearance on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adalat. The KGF star offered a measured response and said he did not know exactly what Rashmika meant when she made the remark. He pointed out that she was relatively new to the film industry at the time and suggested that television interviews sometimes put actors in situations where they are given multiple options and encouraged to choose one.
Yash also suggested that such television programmes can sometimes be designed to generate controversy. According to him, the interviewer may have offered several names and Rashmika might simply have selected the one she felt suited the question. He revealed that although the comment offended several directors at the time, he personally did not allow it to affect him.
The actor's central message was that another person's opinion cannot determine his personality. Yash explained that people are free to have their own views about him, but those opinions do not change who he is. His response has been widely praised by fans for being calm rather than confrontational.
Interestingly, Rashmika had previously clarified and apologised over the controversy after facing backlash. Reports from the time said she explained that her comment had been misunderstood and that she did not intend to create a serious controversy involving Yash. The matter eventually faded from the spotlight, although the old interview has periodically resurfaced on social media.
Yash also used the opportunity to send a message to his own fan base. He said that people who disrespect another actor cannot consider themselves his fans. His statement reflects his repeated calls for fans to maintain respect for fellow artists instead of targeting them online.
The timing of Yash's comments has added further interest, as the actor is currently promoting Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film has generated significant anticipation as Yash's major project following the KGF franchise.
For Rashmika, meanwhile, the old controversy appears to be firmly in the past. Her career has since expanded into pan-India cinema, while Yash has become one of India's biggest Kannada-origin stars. Their respective journeys have moved far beyond the episode.
Yash's latest response ultimately appears to close the chapter rather than reopen the feud. Instead of criticising Rashmika, he treated the remark as an individual's opinion and emphasised that his identity is not determined by what others say about him.
