
Bengaluru, August 5, 2025 – The Kannada film industry is mourning the untimely death of rising actor Santhosh Balaraj, who passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 34. He succumbed to complications arising from jaundice at a private hospital in Bengaluru around 9:45 AM.
Santhosh had been battling the illness for several weeks, and the infection had reportedly spread throughout his body, severely affecting his health. Despite intensive care and medical intervention, his condition worsened, and he could not recover.
He was the son of the late producer Anekal Balaraj, known for the hit film Kariya starring Darshan. Anekal Balaraj had passed away in a tragic road accident in 2022. Santhosh, who was unmarried, lived with his mother and was considered one of Sandalwood’s promising talents.
Santhosh Balaraj made his mark with lead roles in films such as Kariya 2, Kempa, Ganapa, Barkley, and Satya. His performances were noted for their intensity and depth, and he was seen as a rising star in the industry. His sudden demise has left fans and colleagues in shock, with tributes pouring in from across the Kannada film fraternity.
