Vinod Prabhakar’s emotionally charged Kannada film Maadeva is set to make its digital debut after a successful theatrical run. The film, which explores themes of trauma, redemption, and human connection, will be available for streaming on Cinebazzar OTT starting September 12, 2025. Initially expected to release on Zee5, the deal with Zee Network fell through, and Cinebazzar stepped in to acquire the digital rights, much to the delight of fans eager to watch the film online.
Cinebazzar is offering a flexible viewing model for Maadeva. Viewers can rent the film for ₹49 until September 25, after which it will be available for free to subscribers from September 26. The platform also offers a 3-month subscription for ₹49, which includes access to other Kannada titles such as Sanju Weds Geetha 2, Langotiman, and DilKush, making it a compelling option for regional cinema enthusiasts.
Directed by Naveen Reddy, Maadeva stars Vinod Prabhakar as a stoic hangman in a 1990s prison whose life takes a turn when a young woman named Parvathi, played by Sonal Monteiro, seeks his help to reconnect with her imprisoned mother. The film features a strong supporting cast including Srinagara Kitty, Achyuth Kumar, Malashri, Cockroach Suddhi, Shruthi Krishna, and Bala Rajwadi. The music by Pradyottan and cinematography by Balakrishna Thota add depth to the film’s gritty and emotional narrative.
Released in early June 2025, Maadeva exceeded expectations at the box office, completing over 50 days in theatres and earning more than double its ₹4 crore budget. The film’s success was driven by word-of-mouth praise and Prabhakar’s compelling performance. With its upcoming OTT release, Maadeva is poised to reach a wider audience and continue its impact as one of the year’s standout Kannada dramas.
