Fertiliser Stocks Jump Up To 10% — FACT, Paradeep Phosphates, NFL Gain. Here's Why
Fertiliser stocks witnessed strong buying interest in early trade on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with several counters gaining sharply despite a muted trend in the broader Indian stock market. Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) led the rally, surging as much as 10%, while other major fertiliser companies also recorded significant gains.
FACT Shares Lead Fertiliser Stock Rally
FACT shares jumped up to 10% during the session, emerging as the biggest gainer among the fertiliser stocks in focus. Madras Fertilizers also rallied more than 9%, while Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF) gained nearly 8%.
Meanwhile, Paradeep Phosphates and National Fertilizers (NFL) shares advanced more than 5% each. Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals also participated in the rally, rising around 3%.
The broad-based movement indicates renewed investor interest in the fertiliser sector, which remains closely linked to India's agricultural demand, government policies and the availability of key farm inputs.
Why Are Fertiliser Stocks Rising?
The latest rally comes amid positive sentiment surrounding the fertiliser industry. Investors are closely watching domestic demand, production capacity, government support and the outlook for agricultural consumption.
Fertiliser companies can benefit from stronger demand for nutrients such as urea, DAP and complex fertilisers, particularly when monsoon conditions support agricultural activity. Government policies related to fertiliser availability and subsidies also remain important factors influencing the sector.
Paradeep Phosphates has separately reported strong recent financial performance. Its Q1 FY27 net profit increased 24% year-on-year, while revenue rose 36%. The company has also been investing in capacity expansion and backward integration, which could support its longer-term operating performance.
Government Support Remains Key Factor
The fertiliser sector is heavily influenced by government policy because of India's subsidised fertiliser framework. Adequate supply, import management and subsidy allocations can directly affect the operating environment for fertiliser manufacturers.
Earlier developments have also shown how government assurances regarding adequate fertiliser supplies can trigger buying in fertiliser stocks. In December 2025, fertiliser shares rallied after the government said there was sufficient fertiliser availability for the rabi season.
What Investors Should Watch
The sharp gains in FACT, Paradeep Phosphates, NFL and other fertiliser stocks have once again placed the sector on investors' radar. However, one-day rallies do not necessarily indicate a sustained trend.
Investors should monitor quarterly earnings, fertiliser prices, raw-material costs, government subsidy policies, import requirements and capacity expansion plans before making investment decisions.
With FACT gaining as much as 10% and several peers rising between 3% and 9%, fertiliser stocks are among the notable sectoral movers in Tuesday's market session.
