Bengaluru has secured the 17th position on Time Out’s list of the world’s 20 best cities for nightlife in 2026, becoming the only Indian city to feature in the global ranking. The recognition highlights the city’s vibrant after-dark culture, from breweries and cocktail bars to live music and neighbourhood nightlife.
Bengaluru the Only Indian City on the List
Time Out’s 2026 ranking was compiled using responses from more than 24,000 local residents across 150 cities, combined with input from more than 100 Time Out editors and city experts. The methodology gave 70% weight to local sentiment and 30% to expert evaluation.
Bengaluru came in at No. 17, ahead of Accra, Singapore and Mexico City. Bangkok topped the list, followed by Berlin, New York City, Melbourne and São Paulo.
The ranking considered several aspects of nightlife, including quality, affordability, community, diversity, safety, excitement and the overall atmosphere of a city after dark.
Why Bengaluru Stands Out
Bengaluru's nightlife is spread across several popular neighbourhoods, particularly Indiranagar, Koramangala, CBD and Whitefield. The city has developed a reputation for its brewery culture, innovative cocktail bars, live music venues and increasingly diverse late-evening experiences.
Among the city's well-known nightlife destinations is Toit in Indiranagar, one of Bengaluru's established brewpubs. Other venues such as The Reservoire Indiranagar and Big Pitcher Indiranagar add to the neighbourhood's extensive bar and brewery scene.

Community Feel Adds to Bengaluru’s Appeal

Does the Ranking Match Reality?
While the ranking has been welcomed by many Bengaluru residents, it may also invite debate. The city continues to face challenges involving traffic, infrastructure, public transport and restrictions on late-night operations.
Therefore, being ranked 17th globally does not necessarily mean Bengaluru offers an uninterrupted all-night party scene. Instead, the ranking reflects the broader quality and diversity of the city's nightlife experience as judged by locals and experts.
The recognition nevertheless puts Bengaluru alongside some of the world's most prominent nightlife destinations and reinforces its growing reputation as India's major technology, culture and entertainment hub.
