The accused have been identified as Mohammad Sahil, 25, and his wife Sameera, 21. According to police, the couple allegedly came in contact with Pakistan-based operatives through social media and subsequently became involved in activities connected with the suspected espionage network.

Indian SIM Cards Sent to Pakistan

One of the key findings of the investigation concerns the alleged procurement and transfer of eight Indian SIM cards. Police said the SIM cards were sent to Pakistan through Dubai between 2024 and 2025. The couple allegedly received around ₹30,000 in return.

Investigators believe the SIM cards were subsequently used to activate WhatsApp accounts in Pakistan. These accounts were allegedly used by Pakistani intelligence operatives to communicate with people in India and attempt to access Indian WhatsApp groups to gather information.

Alleged Reconnaissance of Cantonment Areas

Police have also alleged that Sahil was tasked with conducting reconnaissance of military cantonment areas in different parts of India. Investigators claim he was asked to collect information concerning defence personnel and military-related activities.

According to police officials, the investigation also uncovered alleged attempts to recruit individuals for espionage-related field operations and provide logistical assistance to Pakistan-based operatives.

Investigation Began Through Social Media Contact

Police said Sahil first came into contact with a Pakistani agent through Instagram in 2024. Investigators subsequently traced communications between the accused and suspected Pakistan-based handlers.

Two mobile phones were reportedly recovered from the couple. Police said forensic examination of the devices revealed chats and communications allegedly linked to Pakistani intelligence operatives.

The Delhi Police Special Cell is continuing its investigation to determine the full extent of the network, identify other individuals allegedly connected with it and establish what sensitive information may have been accessed or shared.

The allegations remain part of an ongoing criminal investigation, and the accused will have the opportunity to contest the charges through the legal process
