Constructed at a cost of ₹12,000 crore, the expressway is designed to reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to just 2.5 hours, compared to the earlier 6–7 hours. The route is expected to boost tourism in Haridwar and Rishikesh, while also driving growth in real estate and logistics across the region.

One of the most striking features of the project is Asia’s longest elevated wildlife corridor, stretching 12 kilometers over the Rajaji National Park. This corridor ensures safe passage for animals while maintaining ecological balance, making the expressway a model for sustainable infrastructure. In addition, the expressway includes a 340-meter tunnel, 113 underpasses, rest areas, and food courts, all aimed at enhancing safety and convenience for travelers.

The Delhi–Dehradun Expressway is part of India’s broader highway expansion program, which has doubled the length of national highways in the past decade. By linking major highways and creating seamless connectivity, the project is expected to transform travel and commerce in northern India.

Speaking at the inauguration, PM Modi emphasized the expressway’s role in strengthening tourism, improving logistics, and supporting economic growth. The project reflects the government’s commitment to modern infrastructure while balancing environmental concerns.

With its combination of speed, safety, and sustainability, the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway is set to become a vital artery for travelers, businesses, and tourists alike. Its opening marks a new chapter in India’s journey toward world-class infrastructure and regional development.
