The much-awaited Delhi–Dehradun Expressway, one of North India’s most significant infrastructure projects, is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14, 2026. The expressway is expected to drastically reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun, providing faster, safer, and more efficient connectivity between the two cities.
The Delhi–Dehradun Expressway has been designed as a modern, access-controlled highway equipped with advanced safety features and eco-friendly infrastructure. Once fully operational, the expressway is expected to cut travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from nearly 6–7 hours to around 2.5 hours, making travel more convenient for commuters, tourists, and businesses. Officials involved in the project stated that the expressway includes multiple tunnels, elevated stretches, and wildlife corridors to ensure minimal environmental impact. Special measures have been incorporated to protect wildlife movement, particularly in forest regions along the route. These features highlight the government’s focus on balancing infrastructure development with environmental conservation.
The inauguration on April 14 is expected to be a major milestone, marking the near completion of a project that has been under development for several years.
