Officials have noted that every rupee invested in these clusters could generate more than double in nationwide value. This multiplier effect highlights the broader economic impact of defence manufacturing, which not only strengthens national security but also boosts local economies by attracting investments and fostering ancillary industries.

The announcement builds on recent milestones in India’s defence journey. On June 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commissioned three indigenously built warships, which showcased over 75% local content. This achievement underscores India’s growing self-reliance and positions the country as a rising global defence builder.

Detailed roadmaps for each cluster are expected to be released next month. These plans will outline specific goals, timelines, and partnerships, including frameworks for technology transfer, testing facilities for advanced weaponry, and strategies to expand exports. Together, they will form a comprehensive blueprint for India’s defence manufacturing future.
