A recent investigation has revealed that Monalisa Bhosle, popularly known as a “Kumbh Mela star,” was allegedly a minor at the time of her marriage earlier this year. The findings have triggered legal action and raised serious questions about document authenticity and the circumstances surrounding the wedding.
According to officials from the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), Monalisa Bhosle’s birthdate was verified as December 30, 2009, based on official records from Maheshwar. This confirmation indicates that she was under the legal age for marriage at the time of her Hindu temple wedding held on March 11, 2026, in Kerala.
Following these findings, an First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Khargone Police Station against the groom, identified as Khan. Authorities stated that the FIR was filed under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, which deals with offences involving minors. Investigators have also indicated that additional charges related to alleged kidnapping and violations under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) laws may be considered, depending on the outcome of further inquiries.
The marriage had earlier attracted attention because it was presented publicly as an example of interfaith harmony. Some local leaders from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) in Kerala reportedly attended the ceremony and praised it as a symbol of social unity. However, the situation took a serious turn after members of Bhosle’s family approached authorities, alleging coercion and claiming that forged identity documents had been used.
Among the documents under scrutiny is an Aadhaar card that reportedly listed her birth year as 2008, which differs from the official records confirming her as younger. Officials are now examining whether the documents were intentionally altered to show her as legally eligible for marriage.
Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, and all allegations will be examined carefully before any final conclusions are reached. Legal experts note that if the allegations are proven, the case could carry significant legal consequences under child protection and anti-trafficking laws.
