UP Floods 2026: 26 Districts Affected
The flood situation in Uttar Pradesh remains a major concern, with 26 districts affected and more than 17,500 people evacuated to safer locations, according to the latest update issued by the state government on Friday. Authorities said around 3.53 lakh people have been affected by the floods across the state.
The government reported that 17,544 people have been shifted to safer areas, while nearly 4,847 people are currently staying in relief shelters. Large-scale rescue and relief operations continue in several flood-hit districts.
According to the Relief Commissioner's office, 1,312 flood shelters have been established across Uttar Pradesh. Authorities have also deployed 1,634 flood outposts, 1,697 boats and motorboats, and 1,068 medical teams to support rescue, healthcare and emergency operations.
Relief Materials Distributed
The state administration has stepped up food and medical assistance in affected areas. More than 72,897 food relief packets and 3,67,551 lunch packets have been distributed among people impacted by the floods.
To prevent water-borne diseases and address health concerns, officials have distributed more than 5.52 lakh chlorine tablets and 1.87 lakh ORS packets.
Livestock has also been affected, with more than 45,000 animals reported to be impacted. The government said more than 5,000 quintals of fodder have been supplied, while no livestock deaths have been reported in the latest statement.
Which Districts Are Affected?
The affected districts include Amroha, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Badaun, Ballia, Barabanki, Basti, Chandauli, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kasganj, Kanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Prayagraj, Raebareli, Rampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shahjahanpur, Unnao and Varanasi.
Several rivers, including the Ganga and Mandakini, continue to be closely monitored as authorities assess water levels and the impact on villages, roads and agricultural land.
Rescue Operations Continue
In Ghazipur, police and administrative teams rescued 12 shepherds and more than 2,000 sheep stranded near Duhia Saraiya after rising Ganga waters cut off access. A night-vision drone was reportedly used to locate the stranded people and animals before the rescue operation was carried out with boats.
In Chitrakoot, the Mandakini River has receded from its peak level recorded on August 29, but authorities continue to monitor the situation. Rescue teams, medical personnel and disaster-response forces remain deployed.
Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas to remain alert and follow official instructions as relief and rescue operations continue across flood-affected parts of Uttar Pradesh.
