No Water Supply in Bengaluru for Three Days: BWSSB Announces Shutdown from September 15–17

Residents across Bengaluru are bracing for a major inconvenience as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced a complete water supply shutdown across several parts of the city for three consecutive days—September 15, 16, and 17. The disruption is due to scheduled maintenance and upgrade work on key pipelines connected to the Cauvery Water Supply System Stage V.

According to BWSSB officials, the shutdown is necessary to facilitate interconnection work between existing pipelines and newly laid infrastructure aimed at improving long-term water distribution efficiency. The affected areas include major zones such as Koramangala, Indiranagar, Jayanagar, HSR Layout, BTM Layout, and parts of Whitefield and Rajajinagar. The board has urged residents to store adequate water in advance and use it judiciously during the outage.

Tankers will be deployed in critical areas to provide emergency water supply, especially for hospitals, schools, and apartment complexes. BWSSB has also set up helpline numbers and mobile units to respond to urgent water-related complaints during the shutdown period. Citizens are advised to check the BWSSB website and social media handles for real-time updates and area-specific details.

While the disruption is expected to cause temporary hardship, officials emphasize that the upgrade is part of a broader initiative to modernize Bengaluru’s aging water infrastructure. Once completed, the new pipeline network is expected to enhance water pressure and reduce supply inconsistencies in several neighborhoods.
