Beware Pakistan! Gavaskar Issues Big Warning Ahead Of Asia Cup 2025 Final

As the cricketing world braces for the historic India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai, legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar has issued a stark warning to Pakistan’s bowling unit: underestimate Abhishek Sharma at your peril.

Gavaskar, speaking to India Today, hailed the young left-hander as India’s trump card, noting his explosive form and mental fortitude. “Abhishek Sharma won’t let opportunities slip by. He’s been in good form with three half-centuries and, despite an unfortunate run-out that cost him a potential century, he’s likely to aim for another big innings—possibly even a three-figure score,” Gavaskar said.

Abhishek leads the run charts with 309 runs, including a match-winning 74 against Pakistan in the Super 4 stage. His aggressive strokeplay and composure under pressure have made him the standout performer of the tournament.

Gavaskar also offered tactical advice to Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, whose form has been underwhelming. “He’s undoubtedly a class player. All I would suggest is that he give himself three or four deliveries in the middle to assess the conditions—check for pace, bounce, or turn,” Gavaskar explained.

The final, set for September 28, marks the first-ever title clash between India and Pakistan in Asia Cup history. With political tensions simmering and both teams having already clashed twice in the tournament, the stakes are sky-high.

Pakistan, meanwhile, enters the final with a mixed record and internal controversies. Gavaskar has previously criticized the PCB for delaying matches and boycotting media duties, accusing them of “holding the game to ransom”.

As fans gear up for the showdown, Gavaskar’s warning adds fuel to an already fiery build-up. All eyes will be on Abhishek Sharma—and whether Pakistan’s bowlers can contain India’s rising star.
