Maruti Suzuki is preparing to unveil its updated Baleno in India in early September, with the facelift officially scheduled to launch on September 5, 2026. The refreshed premium hatchback will receive styling and feature upgrades as the company looks to keep the Baleno competitive in a segment that includes the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza.
Revised Exterior Design
The Baleno facelift is expected to receive its most noticeable changes at the front. Test vehicles have indicated a redesigned grille with a horizontal connecting element, along with a revised front bumper.
The existing boomerang-shaped LED daytime-running lights are expected to continue, while new alloy wheel designs could provide a fresher side profile. At the rear, changes are likely to be limited to a revised bumper, with the existing tail-lamps and overall silhouette expected to remain.
More Features Inside
The basic dashboard layout is expected to remain familiar, but Maruti Suzuki could introduce new upholstery, revised interior trims and ambient lighting.
A single-pane electric sunroof is also among the features being reported for the facelift. Depending on the variant, the updated Baleno could receive additional technology and convenience features, although the complete equipment list will be confirmed at launch.
Engine Options
The Baleno facelift is widely expected to continue with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing around 90hp and 113Nm. The engine is expected to be offered with a five-speed manual and five-speed AMT.
A factory-fitted CNG variant is also expected to remain available, producing around 77.5hp and 98.5Nm with a five-speed manual gearbox. However, some reports suggest Maruti could introduce its newer Z-Series 1.2-litre engine, so the final powertrain specifications will need to be confirmed at launch.
Expected Price
The current Baleno is priced from around ₹5.99 lakh to ₹9.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelift is expected to command a modest premium because of the styling and equipment upgrades.
With its September 5 launch, the updated Baleno will arrive ahead of the festive season and could give Maruti Suzuki's premium hatchback a fresh push in the Indian market.
