Awarapan 2 has maintained its impressive box-office momentum in its second week. The Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani-starrer collected ₹6.21 crore net on its second Friday, taking its eight-day India total to ₹123.87 crore net. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also highlighted the film's strong performance in Tier 2 and Tier 3 centres.
The second-Friday performance is particularly encouraging because the film has entered its second week and is competing for audience attention alongside other releases. Despite the expected slowdown after its opening week, Awarapan 2 has managed to maintain a healthy hold.
Awarapan 2 Nears ₹125 Crore
With ₹123.87 crore already in the bank, the film is now just ₹1.13 crore away from crossing ₹125 crore net in India. The milestone could arrive very quickly with the second weekend's collections.
The sequel's theatrical performance has benefited from a combination of nostalgia, music, action and Emraan Hashmi's popularity. The film has successfully revived interest in the Awarapan franchise while introducing the story to a new generation of moviegoers.
According to trade reports, Awarapan 2 had also reached approximately ₹169.17 crore worldwide by Day 8, making the ₹170 crore global milestone within touching distance.
Strong Performance in Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cities
One of the biggest positives for the film has been its performance beyond the major metropolitan centres. Taran Adarsh praised its business in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, calling the trend encouraging for the Hindi film industry.
The performance suggests that audiences in smaller cities continue to respond strongly to films that combine familiar stars, emotional storytelling and popular music.
For Awarapan 2, this wider audience base could prove crucial in extending its theatrical run over the coming days.
Awarapan 2 vs Batwara 1947
The contrast between Awarapan 2 and Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947 has become increasingly visible at the box office.
While Awarapan 2 added ₹6.21 crore on its second Friday, Batwara 1947 earned only ₹75 lakh on Day 8. NDTV Profit also reported the ₹75-lakh second-Friday figure, highlighting the widening gap between the two films.
Batwara 1947 had collected around ₹33.60 crore net during its first week, before adding ₹75 lakh on the eighth day.
The difference demonstrates how strongly Awarapan 2 has connected with audiences compared with the other major Hindi release.
Can Awarapan 2 Reach ₹150 Crore?
The immediate target for Awarapan 2 is the ₹125 crore mark, followed by ₹150 crore. Given its current pace and the strong second-Friday hold, the film has a realistic opportunity to cross ₹150 crore if the second weekend delivers a substantial jump.
However, competition could become a factor as new releases enter theatres. The film will need to maintain strong occupancy during the weekend and subsequent weekdays to reach the higher end of its projected lifetime range.
For now, ₹123.87 crore net in eight days and nearly ₹170 crore worldwide represent a major success for Awarapan 2. Its strong performance in smaller centres is particularly noteworthy and could help the film remain steady even as it moves deeper into its theatrical run.
