Irumudi Box Office Day 1 (Early Trend): Ravi Teja Gets 2nd Highest Opener; Beats Dhamaka, Tiger Nageswara Rao

Ravi Teja’s latest Telugu release Irumudi has made a strong start at the Indian box office. Released on Friday, August 21, the Shiva Nirvana directorial opened to encouraging occupancy across major Telugu-speaking markets. According to early estimates, the film had collected around ₹8.19 crore net in India by 7:30 PM, with the number expected to rise further as night shows were yet to be fully reported.

The early figures have given Ravi Teja another reason to celebrate. Based on the reported ₹8.19 crore figure, Irumudi has already moved ahead of the opening-day collections of two of his previous films, Dhamaka and Tiger Nageswara Rao. The film is now being reported as Ravi Teja’s second-highest opener, behind Waltair Veerayya.

Irumudi Day 1 Collection

Irumudi recorded strong audience occupancy throughout Friday. Sacnilk's live tracking showed an overall Telugu occupancy of around 75.10%, with morning shows at 68.10%, afternoon shows at 75.69% and evening shows climbing to 81.51%. Several centres, including Vijayawada, Warangal, Guntur and Visakhapatnam, reported particularly strong occupancy.

The film's strong performance in Hyderabad and other major Telugu markets has played an important role in the opening-day trend. With night shows still to contribute, the final Day 1 number could be higher than the early evening estimate.

Beats Dhamaka and Tiger Nageswara Rao

One of the biggest highlights is Irumudi surpassing the opening figures of Dhamaka and Tiger Nageswara Rao in the early comparison being reported. Tiger Nageswara Rao recorded an India net opening of approximately ₹6.55 crore, including ₹6.35 crore from its Telugu version.

Dhamaka, meanwhile, had a reported opening-day worldwide collection of around ₹10 crore in 2022.

The comparison should be read carefully because box-office sources can differ in whether they report India net, gross or worldwide figures. The current Irumudi figure is an early India net estimate, not a final worldwide collection.

Strong Word of Mouth

The strong opening has been supported by positive initial audience reactions. Viewers have particularly praised Ravi Teja's performance, the emotional father-daughter storyline and the film's combination of action and drama. Early reviews also highlight the emotional impact of the climax and the film's social elements.

Irumudi follows an alcohol-dependent father who lives with his daughter and undergoes a spiritual transformation after deciding to take Ayyappa Deeksha at her request. The film stars Ravi Teja alongside Priya Bhavani Shankar, Sai Kumar and Baby Nakshathra.

With the first-day trend looking strong, the weekend becomes crucial for Irumudi. If the film maintains its momentum on Saturday and Sunday, Ravi Teja could be looking at another significant commercial success.
