Kuku Kohli Dies At 77
According to reports, Kuku Kohli had been feeling unwell and was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on Monday. He died around 4:30 pm on Tuesday following a massive heart attack. His last rites are scheduled to take place on Wednesday at Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai.
Kohli, whose birth name was Avtar Kohli, had a long association with Hindi cinema. Before turning director, he worked with legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor, gaining experience across various aspects of filmmaking.
Phool Aur Kaante Launched Ajay Devgn
Kuku Kohli's biggest contribution to Bollywood came with Phool Aur Kaante, released in 1991. The action-romance film marked Ajay Devgn's debut as a leading actor and became a major commercial success.
The film featured Ajay Devgn alongside Madhoo, Amrish Puri, Aruna Irani and Jagdeep. Devgn's iconic entry, in which he balances himself between two moving motorcycles, became one of the most memorable introductions in Hindi cinema.
The success of Phool Aur Kaante established Devgn as a promising young star. He also won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his performance.
