The accused, identified as Rashi Chhabria (47), a resident of Khar, had been associated with the Tandon family since 2020. She was entrusted with caring for Raveena Tandon's 86-year-old mother, Veena Tandon, and had gradually gained the family's confidence over several years .

How the Theft Unfolded
According to the police complaint filed by Raveena's brother, film producer Rajiv Ravi Tandon, the incident came to light on October 2, 2025 — just before the Dussehra festival — when the family opened a secure safe in a first-floor bedroom to retrieve jewellery for his mother .

The family discovered that the safe had been forcibly broken into. Missing were approximately 350 grams of gold and diamond ornaments, including bangles, necklaces, rings, earrings, and a diamond-studded mangalsutra belonging to Veena Tandon, along with two luxury wristwatches owned by Rajiv Tandon .

The Betrayal
The theft reportedly occurred during a period when the family's Juhu residence was undergoing renovation work in August 2025. During this time, several valuable heirloom items were locked away for safekeeping in a wardrobe safe .

When confronted privately, Chhabria initially denied any involvement but later confessed to the crime. She returned the two stolen wristwatches and admitted to pawning the jewellery with the assistance of two accomplices, identified as Jagdish and Sanjay Kale, promising to retrieve the items shortly .

However, despite multiple follow-ups, the jewellery was never returned. The family alleged that the accused's accomplice, Jagdish — who claims to be a police informant — threatened Rajiv Tandon with false implication in a fabricated narcotics case if he pursued legal action .

Arrest and Investigation
Realising that the stolen valuables would not be returned, Rajiv Tandon formally registered a complaint at the Juhu police station on May 18, 2026. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the law .

Following the complaint, Mumbai Police arrested Chhabria. Authorities have recovered approximately 15 grams of gold and some of the stolen watches, while efforts continue to trace the remaining jewellery and apprehend the accused's accomplices .

The investigation remains ongoing. No official statement has been issued yet by Raveena Tandon regarding the incident.
