Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Urges Youth To Build ₹1,000 Crore Companies Instead Of Chasing ₹1 Crore Jobs
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has urged young Indians to think beyond conventional employment and focus on entrepreneurship, innovation and job creation. Her message comes amid a broader push to connect young people with modern technology, industry-focused skills and emerging opportunities in areas such as artificial intelligence and digital businesses.
From Job Seekers To Job Creators
Gupta has repeatedly encouraged young people to move from being job seekers to job creators. In January, she described today's youth as increasingly capable of creating employment opportunities rather than simply looking for jobs.
The latest message reflects this approach, encouraging ambitious young entrepreneurs to think about building large-scale businesses capable of generating employment for thousands of people. The Chief Minister's official website says the government is supporting young innovators through initiatives including the Campus to Market – Startup Yuva Festival 2026, where equity-free grants of ₹10 lakh were awarded to selected innovators.

Gupta has increasingly highlighted the role of technology in India's future. During a recent visit to Vellore Institute of Technology, she called on India to become an AI creator rather than merely an AI consumer, while stressing the need for greater investment in research, education and innovation.
The focus on technology is particularly relevant for young entrepreneurs, who can use AI, digital platforms and new-age business models to develop products for Indian and international markets.

Gupta's appeal is also connected to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat. At the MY Bharat Youth Convention in June, she told more than 6,000 young participants that India's youth are central to the country's development and urged them to use their talent, creativity and determination for nation-building.
