Dhanashree Verma has opened up about the speculation and allegations surrounding her divorce from Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. The couple's separation became a major talking point on social media, with various claims circulating about their relationship and alleged alimony settlement.
Addressing the rumours, Dhanashree clarified that the decision to end their marriage was mutual and was not something she decided on her own. She said that both she and Chahal agreed to the divorce, while strongly rejecting claims that she had demanded a huge amount as alimony. Her comments were aimed at putting an end to the speculation that had surrounded their personal lives.
The divorce rumours intensified in early 2025 after Chahal and Dhanashree unfollowed each other on Instagram and removed several pictures connected to their marriage. At the time, Dhanashree also criticised social-media trolls and what she described as baseless claims and character assassination.
Chahal's lawyer subsequently confirmed that the couple had reached a settlement and had filed for divorce by mutual consent before the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai. The divorce was later granted with mutual consent in March 2025.
One of the biggest controversies surrounding their separation involved reports that Dhanashree had allegedly sought ₹60 crore in alimony. Her family strongly denied the claim, saying that the reported amount had neither been asked for nor demanded.
Dhanashree later addressed the issue publicly, saying the alimony-related claims were untrue. She also expressed disappointment over the way rumours had affected her and emphasised that she continued to respect Chahal despite the end of their marriage.
Her latest comments have once again drawn attention because they directly challenge the narrative that had developed online around the couple's divorce. Rather than blaming one person, Dhanashree has maintained that the separation was a mutual decision.
The former couple married in December 2020 after dating for a short period. Their relationship attracted considerable public attention because of their social-media presence and Chahal's cricket career.
For now, Dhanashree's clarification provides a stronger picture of her side of the story: the divorce was mutually agreed upon, while the widely circulated claims about a massive alimony demand were rejected. The episode also highlights how quickly unverified claims about celebrity relationships can spread online.
