I’m Game Movie Review
Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game is a stylish supernatural action thriller that takes a familiar commercial-film template and adds an unusual fantasy element. Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, the film stars Dulquer Salmaan alongside Antony Varghese, Mysskin, Kayadu Lohar, Samyuktha Viswanathan and Kathir.
Released in theatres on September 3, 2026, the film has received a mixed response from critics and audiences. While the first half, action sequences and technical presentation have been widely appreciated, the second half has attracted criticism for becoming predictable.
Story
Dulquer plays Dan John, a wealthy and reckless man who believes he has mastered the art of gambling. His confidence in calculated risks takes him into dangerous territory, eventually leading to a serious accident.
Following the accident, Dan undergoes a hand transplant, but the new hand brings an unexpected supernatural mystery into his life. Memories, motives and a dark past connected to the hand gradually pull him into a dangerous conflict.
The concept gives the film an intriguing hook, particularly in its first half.
Dulquer Salmaan Leads From the Front
Dulquer Salmaan is undoubtedly the film's biggest attraction. His suave screen presence and energetic performance help carry the movie through its weaker stretches. Critics and early viewers have particularly praised his action sequences and the way he handles Dan John's larger-than-life personality.
Antony Varghese, Mysskin, Kayadu Lohar and the supporting cast add to the film's commercial appeal, although some characters do not receive enough emotional depth.
First Half vs Second Half
The first half is the stronger portion of I’m Game. The supernatural concept, stylish presentation and action sequences create curiosity and maintain momentum. The interval portion has also received positive reactions from audiences.
However, the film loses some of that freshness after the interval. The narrative moves towards a more conventional revenge drama, with an extended flashback that several reviewers felt diluted the impact of the original premise.
Technical Aspects
Visually, I’m Game is one of the film's stronger elements. The action choreography, production design, VFX and cinematography give the movie a polished theatrical look. Jakes Bejoy's music and background score also contribute significantly to the film's energy.
The screenplay, however, struggles to maintain the same level of excitement throughout its lengthy runtime.
